Equipment for temporary storage of crude oil on the sea bed uses containers which (1) are open to the sea through an opening in the base at all times (sinking on site, storage and re-floating), (2) are provided with adjustable supports on the underside to adapt to ground contours, (3) are divided into at least 3 cells, for air, water and oil, the total volume being constant (4) are provided through a distributor head with pipes for filling with oil from a delivery platform and for emptying into a tanker. The container has no fixed parts on the surface and includes a minimum of moving parts. Containers of high capacity suitable for great depths can be built and transported at low cost and can be established on uneven sea beds. Differential pressures and hence stresses in the structure are very small.
|
