The printer is for printing out letters and signs, as for example, printing the time of day on a card as used in clocking-in machines etc. A shaft carries the type wheels (14-e). A printing roller shaft (34) runs in parallel, and between the shafts a slit or opening is provided for the introduction of an appropriate card (43). The presence of the card causes a drive mechanism to rotate the printing roller shaft for one revolution. Two mounting elements (37a & b) are firmly fixed on the printing roller shaft at a distance from each other. A number of assembly shafts (38a-d) are mounted between at the same distance from each other.
