PURPOSE:To reduce the abrasion between a feed roller and a friction roller by stopping the revolution of the feed roller corresponding to the paper feed surface where there are no originals. CONSTITUTION:The leading end 43a of the actuator constituting an original detecting means is provided between auxiliary rollers 5, 5 which exist between the guide plates 4, 4 of a paper feed platen 1 and whose upper parts protrude above from the paper feed surface 2. This leading end part protrudes above when there are no originals. When this detecting means energizes a solenoid 49 at the absence of any original, an operating piece 49a moves in the arrow direction and a turning piece 51 turns, causing its turning force to be transmitted to a stopper piece 54 by a spring 55. Because of this, the upper part of the stopper piece 54 turns in the arrow direction and engages with a ratchet wheel 46 to stop its rotation, then the rotating power transmission to the feed roller by the clutch spring stops and therefore the feed roller stops, along with which the friction roller also stops. Hence, unnecessary revolution may be averted and the abrasion of both rollers reduced. |
