<p>PURPOSE:To ensure accurate positioning, by detecting both initiation and termination of a data block N. CONSTITUTION:A traveling control circuit 4 supplies a stop signal to a capstan control circuit 9 at an IBG detecting point J and with an error detecting signal 15 and stops a tape at a position K. A tachopulse counting circuit 13 counts tachopulses 18, and a traveled distance arithmetic circuit 14 calculates a traveled distance -l between J and K to supply it to the circuit 4. The circuit 4 actuates a motor 11 in the reverse direction and actuates a read gate control circuit 5 when the circuit 13 counts the pulses 18 by an amount equal to the value JK-l. The circuit 5 recognizes a block N through a block initiation recognizing circuit 7. The circuit 4 drives the tape in the reverse direction as it is and stops the tape at a time point M when a block termination recognizing circuit 6 recognizes the termination of the block N. At the same time, the circuit 13 counts the pulses 18 between M and P. At this time point, the circuit 14 calculates MP-l again. The circuit 4 drives the tape in the forward direction and actuates the circuit 5 when the circuit 13 counts MP-l to open the read gate at a point H.</p> |
