The invention relates to a device for the tensionally-rigid connection of the ends of a non-rotating looping means, especially of drive chains. In order to set and monitor a defined pretension, a spring force store is interposed which is made ineffective by means of a rigid screw connection at a predetermined value. As a result of this lock, the device is intrinsically rigid between its connecting points with the looping means.
