PURPOSE:To provide an image forming device which is used for a television system such as an NTSC and PAL almost in the same manner by providing a converter circuit to obtain the number of output picture elements 4/3 times with respect to the number of sampled picture elements in the vertical direction on a screen of an input video signal. CONSTITUTION:When an NTSC video signal is selected by an NTSC/PAL switching signal inputted from a terminal T3, a multiplexer 16 selects an output of an NTSC decoder 12 and outputs synchronizing signals VSH and HSH to a sample timing signal generator circuit 18, which outputs each chrominance signal to A/D converters 20R, 20G and 20B. The signal is converted into digital one. Here, since changeover switches 22 and 26 are connected to 4/3 times converter circuits 23R, 23G and 23B, outputs of the converters 20R, 20G and 20B are transmitted to a picture processing circuit 30 through the circuits 23R, 23G and 23B. The circuit 30 executes gamma-correction, masking, etc., of the outputs, which are outputted to a D/A converter 32. Ink of quantities matching to respective chrominance signals Y, M, C and BK is discharged from ink jet heads 36Y, 36M, 36C and 36BK.
