PURPOSE:To move a tape electrode smoothly while contacting tightly against the molded face of a guide body by providing a tape electrode pressing device for applying a tape electrode along the molded face of a guide body and pressing against the molded face in an electric discharge machine. CONSTITUTION:Prior to the start of machining, a guide body 4 is faced with a dies 28. Then a tape electrode 9 is pulled from a tape electrode feeding drum 8 and laid along a tape electrode path to stop feeding of the electrode 9. Thereafter, an oil pressure changeover valve 31 is functioned to pull up a die 28 fixed at the tip of a piston rod 30 to fit with a guide body 4 by means of a cylinder 28 thus to press the electrode 9 laid along the outercircumferential wall face of the guide body 4 against the molded face 4a and to contact the electrode 9 tightly against the guide body 4. Upon completion of this work, the die 28 is pulled down to drive the cross-slide tables 20, 21 and the turn table 22 thus to move a work 3 to the position facing with the guide body 4 and to perform electric discharge machining. |
