13a-Alkylgonanes of the general formula I <IMAGE> in which R<1> is <IMAGE> with R<I> and R<II> meaning hydrogen or alkyl with 1 to 4 carbon atoms or R<I> and R<II> with inclusion of N meaning a saturated 5- or 6-membered ring, it being possible for the ring to contain apart from N also another hetero atom such as O, N, S, as well as the corresponding tertiary N-oxides and the acid addition salts, OR<III> with R<III> meaning methyl, ethyl, propyl, methoxyphenyl, allyl or b-dimethylaminoethyl, R<2> is a hydrogen atom, a methyl or ethyl group, R<3>/R<4> have various meanings and R<5> is a hydrogen atom or an a- or b-alkyl group with 1-4 C atoms, are described. The compounds have a potent antigestagenic action and can be used for postcoital fertility control.
