The invention relates to the arrangement of a central seal (16) between two interlocking compositely insulated frames (1, 2) of windows, doors or the like. In such frames (1, 2), insulating strips (7, 8 and 14, 15) consisting of plastic are clamped in between metal profile halves (5, 6 and 12, 13). In order then to make the fit of this central seal (16) independent of the tolerance of the individual parts and to achieve an improved sealing effect between the frames (1, 2), the invention envisages guiding the central seal (16) clamped in on one insulating strip (8) of one frame (1) and supporting it in the closed position on the opposite insulating strip (14) of the other frame (2). <IMAGE>
