PURPOSE:To obtain odorless, high-purity wax, by treating marine animal oil containing wax ester with lipase, collecting an oil layer, and separating it into wax ester and impurities by the use of a polar solvent. CONSTITUTION:A marine animal oil is blended with 0.5-10 times as much as water by weight and 50-2,000 units based on 1g of the marine animal oil of lipase, and treated at 20-50 deg.C for 2-10hr. The oil layers is collected, extracted with an anhydrous or hydrous polar solvent and impurities such as fatty acids, glycerin, etc., are removed. Odorless wax ester having high purity useful for drugs, cosmetics, etc., is obtained.
