The invention relates to a downlight luminaire which has at least one hood-shaped reflector in which a single lamp is arranged. In order to permit a low overall height in conjunction with a simple design and high efficiency, the lamp is a bent fluorescent lamp (20) which is arranged near the top side of the reflector and whose glass tube (20'), which is situated parallel to the light-exit plane of the reflector, fits into an approximately square, geometrical base surface (24), this glass tube extending along at least three sides of this base surface.
