PURPOSE:An ingestible substance, obtained by containing an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitory peptide and useful as a health food for preventing hypertension, etc. CONSTITUTION:A peroral ingestible substance obtained by containing 5-60wt% angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitory peptide, e.g. CEI12 (having the amino acid sequence expressed by formula I), CEIbeta7 (formula II), CEI5 (formula III), etc., obtained by digesting casein with trypsin. The substance, together with a carrier, may be formulated into the form of tablet, capsule, powder, granule, etc. The substance may be used as a solid or liquid food, e.g. confectionery, powdered green tea, etc., or favorite food, e.g. alcohol beverage, sports drink, etc. In both cases, the substance is preferably enteric from the viewpoint of preventing hydrolysis of ACE inhibitory peptide and deterioration in activity by gastric fluid. EFFECT:The substance has extremely low toxicity and can be continuously and orally administered for aiming at moderation of hypertension tendency and regulation of blood pressure. |
