PURPOSE:To synthesize needle-like diamond under and at a low pressure and low temp. by using carbon obtd. by carbonizing an org. high-polymer material by heating in a reducing atmosphere or pyrolytic graphite by a vapor synthesis method. CONSTITUTION:Carbon raw materials 5 and catalysts 6 are laminated via salt plates and salt pipes 3, 4 for insulating a graphite heater 1 and sample on the inside of the heater 1 and graphite end plates 2. The above-mentioned carbon raw materials are used as the carbon raw materials and an alloy or pure iron contg. >=75wt% iron is used as the catalyst. As an example, the needle-like diamond can be synthesized at >=75% ratio by using the material prepd. by adding 1% HNO3 to a furfuryl alcohol and subjecting the mixture to dehydration condensation at 60 deg.C, carbonizing the mixture for 4hr at 1,000 deg.C in N2, blanking the carbonized material to a disk and treating the disk for 3hr at 1,800 deg.C in a vacuum as the carbon raw material 5 and an alloy of 90Fe:10Ni as the cata lyst, respectively, and treating the same for 12min at 1,430 deg.C under 58 kilobar. |
