PURPOSE:To obtain PE having a wide molecular-weight distribution with a small amount of a catalyst without a deashing stage, by using a catalyst consisting of an org. Al compd. and a solid product obtd. by reacting an organohalogenoaluminum compd. with a solid obtd. by the reaction of a compd. contg. Ti, Mg and halogen with a specified Zr compd. CONSTITUTION:An organohalogenoaluminum compd. of formula I (wherein R<1> is alkyl; X<1> is halogen; 0<=n<3) is reacted with a solid obtd. by the reaction of a compd. contg. at least Ti, Mg and halogen with a tetraalkoxyzirconium and, if desired, a zirconium tetrahalide and/or a tetraalkoxytitanium, to obtain a solid product (A). PE is produced by using a catalyst contg., as active components, the solid product (A) and an org. Al compd. (B) of formula II (wherein R<2> is alkyl; X<2> is halogen; 0<m<=3) or III (wherein R<3>, R<4> are each alkyl; 0<K<=3). High catalyst activity can be obtd. with a small amount of the catalyst, so that the deashing stage can be eliminated. The resulting PE has a high bulk specific gravity, good particle size, a wide molecular-weight distribution and good moldability. |
