PURPOSE:To uniformize magnetic characteristics by forming a control layer consisting of a thin alloy film composed of Co and Cr directly or indirectly onto a nonmagnetic substrate and forming a recording layer consisting of a thin alloy film composed of Co and Ni on the control layer. CONSTITUTION:An underlying 2 consisting of Cr, SiO2, etc., is formed on the disk-shaped nonmagnetic substrate 1 and the control layer 3 consisting of the thin alloy film composed of Co and Cr is formed on the layer 2. The recording layer 4 consisting of the thin alloy film composed of Co and Ni is formed on the control layer 3 and a protective layer 5 consisting of C, etc., is formed on the recording layer 4. The change in the magnetic characteristics in the intra-surface direction of Co and Ni which are the recording layer 4 eliminated by forming the recording layer 4 consisting of Co and Ni on the control layer 3 consisting of Co and Cr.
