PURPOSE:To permit positioning to an external connecting substrate with high accuracy by forming >=1 positioning terminals having the width smaller than the width of the terminal groups of electrodes for display of a liquid crystal display device adjacently to said terminal groups. CONSTITUTION:The electrode terminals 3 for display, two sets of the electrode terminals 4 for positioning and the electrode terminals 5 for display are formed on a substrate 2. The intersected points 6 of the electrodes for display of the substrates 1 and 2 are display picture elements. The intersected points 7 of the electrodes for positioning of the substrate 1 included in the parts within the seal of the display device and the electrodes for display of the substrate 2 in the parts except these picture elements for display are the display parts for positioning. On the other hand, the terminals 13 of the same pitch corresponding to the electrode terminals 3 for display and the terminals 14A, 15B for positioning corresponding to two sets of the electrode terminals 4 for positioning are provided on the external connecting substrate 11. The positioning with high accuracy is permitted by disposing the substrate 11 to face the terminal groups of the display device, impressing a voltage between both the electrodes and executing the positioning while viewing the positioning display.
