摘要 PURPOSE:To form a stress cushioning layer on an external surface of a clad layer and to reduce the increase of transmission loss in cold environment by forming a clad comprising a plastic material to below a specified thickness using a hardened body of a solvent-soluble fluoroolefin polymer contg. hardenable parts. CONSTITUTION:A clad of a plastic clad optical fiber constituted of a core comprising quartz glass or optical glass and a clad comprising a plastic material is formed from a hardened body of a solvent-soluble fluoroolefin polymer contg. hardenable parts. The thickness of the clad is adjusted to <=20mum using the hardened body, and a stress cushioning layer is formed on the external surface of the clad layer. The F content of the solvent-soluble fluoroolefin polymer contg. the hardened parts is regulated to >=10% basing on the F content of the fluoroolefin unit of the polymer. The fluoroolefin polymer contains hardenable parts constituted of one selected from OH group, epoxy group, carboxyl group, acidamide group, ester group, unsatd. bond, active hydrogen, and halogen.
