PURPOSE:To easily obtain the stable ultrasonic tomographic image of an objective region, by connecting a drive part for moving an ultrasonic vibrator in the insert direction thereof within a sheath to the channel of an endoscope, in which the sheath is inserted, by a connection member. CONSTITUTION:The sheath 12 capable of being inserted in the forcepts port 9 of an endoscope 1 and the channel 16 communicating therewith is constituted, for example, of a Teflon tube and an ultrasonic wave transmitting and receiving window 17 is provided to the side surface of the insert leading end part of said sheath 12 along the longitudinal direction of the sheath 12 and an ultrasonic vibrator 19 is provided in the sheath 12 in opposed relation to the window 17 so as to hold a holding member 18 movable in the longitudinal direction of the sheath 12 and the holding member 18 of the vibrator 19 is connected to one end part of the transmitting shaft 20 composed of a coil shaft or hollow wire provided so as to extend into the sheath 12. Since it is unnecessary to hold a scanning drive part 13 by the hand of a nursing person when said drive part 13 is fixed to the forceps port 9 through a connection member 14, operability is enhanced and the insert leading end part of the sheath 12 is not made unsteady and, therefore, the stable ultrasonic tomographic image of an objective region can be obtained easily.
