In the case of an electrical plug device having a plug and a socket housing, in the case of which device the plug is detachably locked on the socket housing by means of a spring clip which is guided displaceably in the groove in the socket housing, engages over latching tabs on the plug in the locking position and releases the plug by being spread apart, the spring clip is formed by an essentially U-shaped wire moulding (5) for reliable and easy locking of the plug, the web (6) of which wire moulding (5) is formed in the shape of an arc and has a loop (7) which extends obliquely with respect to the socket housing (1) and is supported on the socket housing (1) by means of the free end, in a prestressed manner. Furthermore, the limbs (6'') are bent in towards one another at the free ends (6'''), engage over the latching tabs (3) in the locking position, and can be spread apart in order to release the latching tabs by pressing the loop (7) against the inner boundary surface (10') of the groove (10). <IMAGE>
