In an elevating conveyer of the type comprising two conveyer bands, which meet face to face in an upright run of the conveyer, the meeting faces of the bands carrying facing layers of foam material 2 which enclose the material (not shown) to be elevated by the bands, the material 2 comprises a plurality of recesses 4, and is coated on its surface by a thin wear-resistant layer 6. The foam material is provided with raised portions 3, 3, along each side of the belt. One of the portions 3 is formed with a recess 7 and the other with a ridge 8. These mate with corresponding formations in the other facing belt. The sides of the belt may be formed with depressions 9. The layer 6 may be sprayed, cast, or brushed on. |
