Teaching aid for improving reading skills, comprising a translucent surface for receiving at least one mobile sheet, also translucent, carrying a musical score or a reading text, and lighting means located under the translucent surface designed so as to partially illuminate this surface, in particular by subdividing it into lines and rows, and control and monitoring means provided for activating said lighting means so as to cause, while the device is in use, a progression in the time of the illuminated area in conjunction with the reading of a score or a text carried by the mobile sheet placed under the translucent surface.
