PURPOSE: To inexpensively and rapidly manufacture a mineral insulated metal sheathed(MIMS) cable by putting a conductive rod and an insulator into a tubular sheath, hermetically sealing this sheath and forming a tube of a first prescribed diameter by hot working, then reworking the tube to a prescribed cable diameter. CONSTITUTION: A element rod and the insulator of a relatively large diameter are packed into the extruded seamless tube of a relatively large diameter and the tube is hermetically sealed and is hot rolled. After the tube is rolled to a diameter of about 50 mm, the tube is cold rolled by a pilger mill or the like to the diameter of bout 13 mm and is then worked to the desired diameter by cold drawing. The MIMS cable is inexpensively and rapidly produced without requiring much preforming stage. |
