An elastomeric covering for connections in electrical cables, having improved sealing and filling characteristics. The covering utilizes an elastomeric (pre-stretched) tube which is maintained in a radially expanded state by an inner removable core. A conformable material is interposed between the pre-stretched tube and the core whereby, when the core is removed, the elastic forces in the pre-stretched tube change the shape and dimensions of the material to correspond to the underlying surface. The conformable material may be insulative, with or without dielectric fillers. Various embodiments are disclosed for in-line splices, end-seals and terminal insulators. |
