Inclined rotary sieves immersed in waste water flow - discharge separated solids into upwardly directed feed worm

Solids are removed from a stream of waste water by a pair of rotating generally cylindrical drums (12A,12B) immersed at an angle below the water surface. The lower half of each drum is a sieve assembly of parallel bars (24), extending over about a semi-circle, with the upper half circle of the drum covered by a sheet metal plate (25), with an intermediate gap (31). Rotating scrapers (26), whose direction is periodically reversed, direct sepd. solids into a worm conveyor (14,40) lifting the solids above the stream surface towards an externally positioned compression and discharge unit, e.g. for palleting. The lifting worm may have two concentric sections, with the lower/outer section especially for advancing denser components, e.g. sand, in the collected solids. An auxiliary third feed worm may be provided. Worm inclination may be adjusted to amt. and nature of solids. ADVANTAGE - Entire sieve surface of drums is usefully operative.
