The subject matter is the same as that of Specification 1,687,995 (see Division B8) but the claims relate to the conveyer means which comprises an elongate manifold 78 coupled to a suction source and at least one movable slide member 76 having an article retaining suction element (80) (Fig. 2, not shown). As described, the manifold 78' has openings 152 communicating with a passage 170 in the Slide member 76 and openings 168 in a vacuum tube 150 rotating within the manifold. Alternatively, the tube 150 may be replaced by a rotating rod (208) (Fig. 14, not shown) having a continuous groove (210) on its surface. |
