PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture characteristic measuring apparatus and a sensitivity measuring method for an electronic endoscope, permitting measurement without being affected by a light source of the endoscope. SOLUTION: The picture characteristic measuring apparatus for the electronic endoscope comprises a measuring box into which the distal end of a body insertion part of the electronic endoscope with a built-in image sensor can be inserted and which forms a dark box with the distal end of the insertion part inserted into the box, and a transmissive measuring plate disposed inside the measuring box to be used for measuring the picture characteristics of the image sensor. The picture characteristic measuring apparatus also has a lighting means disposed in the rear of the measuring plate inside the measuring box for providing the uniform illumination light at the brightness corresponding to the input current, and a control means for controlling the input current of the lighting means based on the information on the luminance of the picture captured by the image sensor.
