PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To excellently control the drive of an ultrasonic probe. SOLUTION: In the ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus, an identification information reading part 70 reads identification information for identifying the ultrasonic probe 12; an identification information supply part 71 supplies the read identification information by wire or radio; an identification information acquisition part 61 acquires the supplied identification information; a storage part 63 stores probe management information 64 for managing a use state of the ultrasonic probe 12; a probe use condition determination part 62 refers to the stored probe management information 64 to determine the use condition of the ultrasonic probe 12 in accordance with an acquisition situation of the identification information; and a transmission and reception control unit 65 controls transmission and reception of an ultrasound wave from at least one or more ultrasonic probes 12 on the basis of the determination result.
