PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure type rice cooker which can conduct good rice cooking by securely having rice absorb water in a short time. SOLUTION: A pressure type rice cooker 1 is provided with a pressure valve 6 which adjusts the pressure inside a pan 3, into which cooked object including water and rice is put, higher than the atmosphere pressure and a pressure valve opening mechanism 7 which controls the pressure valve 6. A pressurizing device 12 for pressurizing the inner pressure of the pan 3 higher than the atmosphere pressure is installed to close the pressure valve 6 by the pressure valve opening mechanism 7 by a controlling device 9 during water absorbing process while pressurizing inside the pan 3 higher than the atmosphere pressure by activating the pressurizing device 12, stopping the motion of the pressurizing device 12 after the pressurization, and opening the pressure valve 6 by activating the pressure valve opening mechanism 7 to reduce the pressure inside the pan 3 until it reaches near the atmosphere pressure.
