The load on a storage node is distributed to improve access performance. A management information storage means (1a) contains management information in which identification information on a virtual logical segment is related to identification information on a physical segment of the real data storage area associated with the logical segment. A segment identifying means (1c), when acquiring an access request through a data access means (1b), identifies a logical segment in the range to be accessed and the corresponding physical segment. A relocation means (1d) divides the identified logical and physical segments into sub-logical and sub-physical segments and relocates the sub-logical segment in the sub-physical segment according to a predetermined rule. The data access means (1b) performs an access control between the sub-logical and sub-physical segments associated with each other by the relocation.
