<p>The present invention relates to a fire-resistant seal (1) for the sealing of volumes containing fluids, said volumes being assembled by means of flanges with planar faces, comprising: an outer portion (2) which may be cut from a sheet of a fire-resistant expanded material, said material having porosity in the non-compressed state and developing sealing properties when compressed above a first threshold; and an inner portion (3) which may be cut from a sheet of a material resistant to said fluids, having porosity in the non-compressed state and developing sealing properties when compressed above a second threshold; the outer surface of the inner portion being adjacent to and in contact with the inner surface of the outer portion. The material having resistance to said fluids is an expanded material, and that surface of the outer portion (Se) which is in contact with a planar-faced flange, that surface of the inner portion (Si) which is in contact with said planar-faced flange, and the thicknesses of the expanded materials are selected so that, when said flanges are tightened, the two materials are compressed to their respective first and second compression thresholds simultaneously.</p> |
