PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably operate a scanning electrode driving circuit, even in a transient period during power source on or power source off and to obviate the occurrence of faults, such as damaging of a scanning electrode drive circuit even for energizing of a connector in a disconnected state. SOLUTION: The scanning electrode driving circuit of the plasma display apparatus includes a first switching element for outputting a reference potential, a second switching element outputting the voltage superimposed on the reference potential, a controller for controlling the first switching element and the second switching element, based on a control signal, and the connector 12 detachably connecting a signal transmission member for supplying the control signal to the controller. In addition, the control signal is pulled up or pulled down, in such a manner that the first switching element is turned on or off, and the second switching element is made turn off or on by the connection state of the signal transmission member 23 to or from the connector 212.
