PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and inexpensively provide a piece of innerwear of high commodity value, neat to look at, with its fashionability kept intact when used as such for trimming a wearer's figure, with no local tightening when used as such for sports and no possibility of hindering sporting performance. SOLUTION: A method for knitting a material for forming the piece of innerwear is provided, comprising the following process: Loops are formed at total knitting needles by a knitting course. Subsequently, in the succeeding knitting course, three knitting needles are missed to form a single loop, and this knitting course is repeated several predetermined times. Thereafter, one knitting needle which formed the above loop is missed, and loops are formed at knitting needles which formed loops at the missed three knitting needles. The knitting course as described above and the knitting course for forming a single loop by missing the three knitting needles are alternately repeated several predetermined times to effect knitting, thus forming a curling-proof part of the knitting portion of a foot port part followed by forming a cylindrical knitted fabric above the foot port part using the total knitting needles.
