PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gene transfer agent which can transfer a gene to a hepatocyte. SOLUTION: This gene transfer agent comprises a polymer obtained by adsorbing poly(L-lysine) to a polymer complex of nucleic acid with a polymer obtained by introducing polymer chains as substituents to an aromatic ring. The gene transfer agent, wherein the aromatic ring comprises a 5 to 8C aromatic, monoring or condensed ring. The gene transfer agent, wherein the polymer chain is a polyacrylamide-based polymer block chain or a polyacrylate-based polymer block chain. The poly(L-lysine) obtained by polymerizing seven or more lysine has directivity to heparan sulfate which is a hepatic cell receptor, and can easily invade in a hepatic cell.
