A display device is provided to drive a backlight assembly segmentally by using a light source unit composed of CCFLs(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps). A display device(100) comprises a display panel(50) and a backlight assembly(70). The display panel displays images. The backlight assembly is segmented into a plurality of domains. Each of the segmented domains independently supplies light to the display panel. The segmented domains are divided into a central region and side regions. In the central region, a plurality of segmented domains are arrayed vertically. The side regions are arranged at both sides of the central region. In each of the side regions, a plurality of segmented domains are arrayed horizontally. The backlight assembly comprises a plurality of light source units(80) which generate light and a housing(75) which accepts the light source units. In each of the segmented domains, one or more light source units are arranged.
