PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thiobenzimidazole derivative having an inhibitory activity against a chymase presenting in human granulocyte. SOLUTION: This thiobenzimidazole expressed by formula (1) or its medically acceptable salt exhibits a potent chymase inhibitory activity and therefore, they can become a clinically applicable preventing and/or treating agent of various diseases associated with the human chymase e.g. inflammatory diseases, allergic diseases, respiratory organ diseases, cardiovascular diseases, or bone or cartilage metabolic diseases.
