PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner and an air conditioning method capable of reducing temperature difference between upper and lower floors regardless of a height of a building. SOLUTION: This air conditioner 10 for reducing the temperature difference between the upper floor and the lower floor in the building 20, comprises a first indoor unit 11 for allowing a refrigerant to absorb heat of the upper floor in the building 20, a second indoor unit 12 for radiating the heat of refrigerant to the lower floor in the building 20, and first piping 14 and second piping 16 for circulating the refrigerant between the first indoor unit 11 and the second indoor unit 12.
