<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device etc., capable of evading deterioration in picture quality with time. <P>SOLUTION: A TV receiver 100 includes a display driving circuit 111, a flat type rectangular display panel 112 composed of an LCD, a PDP, a FED, etc., an X driver 113 and a Y driver 114, etc., and further includes an imaging element 121 for imaging the display panel 112, a picture measurement unit 119, etc. The imaging element 121 images a display surface of the display panel 112 and a detection section of the picture measurement unit 119 detects luminance unevenness, gamma characteristics, color balance, etc., of the display surface. Based upon the detected luminance unevenness, gamma characteristics, color balance, etc., a control unit 115 controls the X driver 113 and Y driver 114.
