<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording medium, with high quality silver salt photograph-like gloss, which has high whiteness and a pliable coated layer so that defects such as paper powder, cracks and snapping can hardly occur, and a method for manufacturing the inkjet recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: In this method for manufacturing the inkjet recording medium, first, a coating liquid containing a crosslinking agent component is applied to the surface of a base material, then dried, and an aqueous coating material containing at least a fine pigment and a hydrophilic resin which forms a hydrogel by irradiating an aqueous liquid with active energy radiations, is applied to the surface of the base material. After that, the aqueous coating material applied to the surface layer side of the coated layer is hydrogelled by irradiating the aqueous coating material with the active energy radiations from the surface layer side, and then dried.
