<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device of an internal combustion engine capable of properly restraining exhaust of a nano particle in the atmosphere when traveling at a high speed and even in an operation state of being rich in the air-fuel ratio. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device of the internal combustion engine is suitably used for purifying exhaust gas exhausted from the internal combustion engine. A nano particle generating area determining means determines whether or not the operation state of the internal combustion engine exists in a naon particle generating area, and a control means performs control for making the air-fuel ratio lean when determining that the nano particle is generated in the exhaust gas by the nano particle generating area determining means. A soot particle is generated from the internal combustion engine by making the air-fuel ratio lean. Thus, even if a state of the generated nano particle is put in a gas state, the nano particle itself can be restrained from being exhausted in the atmosphere by adsorbing the nano particle to the soot particle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
