PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To urge a user to make the tilt of an imaging apparatus inconspicuous enough to provide appreciable pictures even for sideways long pictures apt to make the tilt conspicuous. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises a means (S201) for detecting the tilt of the imaging apparatus, a means for switching the aspect ratio of a taken picture, and display control means (S202-S208) for controlling to show a tilt guide indication superposed on the taken picture shown on a display means, if tilt information detected by the tilt detecting means exceed a specified value.
