PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning solvent or a detergent which facilitates detergency administration under circumstances in which when a cleaning solvent is used, an anti-oxidant is added to inhibit the lowering of its detergency, to provide a method for administrating in the case where these cleaning solvent and detergent are used, and to provide an indicator for the administration. SOLUTION: A phenolic anti-oxidant is incorporated in a cleaning solvent and/or a detergent. In an embodiment, a cleaning solvent containing limonen as the principal component is used, and a phenolic anti-oxidant having 3 or smaller units of phenolic skeletons in the molecular structure is used. It is desirable that the phenolic anti-oxidant is dibutylhydroxytoluene. The administration comprises a cleaning work comprising the step of recirculation and purification of a solution used in cleaning. The purification comprises passing the solution into an active carbon layer and then into an adsorbent layer. The measurement of the extent of oxidation of the cleaning solvent is performed by sampling part of the solvent and subjecting it to titration using an oxidation promoter as an indicator.
