The invention concerns a device for operating a garage door or the like guided in its movements by guiding means, comprising a motor (4) and a mechanical linkage between the motor and the door. The mechanical linkage consists of an extensible arm (5) formed preferably with superimposed profiled elements (8) sliding into one another and stackable in a magazine (9). Said elements are provided laterally with a rack (12), the alignment of the racks being provided by mutual locking of said elements in an appropriate position.
