<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powered system for selectively positioning a vehicle liftgate in multiple intermediate positions between a fully open position and a fully closed position. <P>SOLUTION: The liftgate 12 is opened and closed between end positions by a powered system 18 including two driving parts (actuators) 20. The driving parts 20 are laterally spaced from each other and near respective vertical body pillars 14 that define the rear opening closed by the liftgate 12. The driving parts 20 are connected to a power supply device 22 such as a vehicle electrical system and to a control part 24 such as an on-vehicle computer.
