PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rare gas fluorescent lamp lighting device using an inverter circuit with good light volume stability. SOLUTION: On the rare gas fluorescent lamp lighting device composed of a rare gas fluorescent lamp and a power supply means impressing high-frequency voltage between electrodes of the rare gas fluorescent lamp, an amount of current flowing through an inverter is optionally controlled by arranging a circuit element having a negative temperature coefficient between a power source input part and the inverter circuit part, and arranging a resistor element in parallel with the circuit element having the negative temperature coefficient.
