PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyimide film which can give a flexible metal-clad laminate undergoing little dimensional change after the metal layer is etched. SOLUTION: The polyimide film used is a continuously produced one characterized in that it has over its entire width a tensile modulus ratio b/a of 0.500 to below 1.000 when measured on tensile moduli (a) and (b) in the direction of a molecular orientation axis and in the direction vertical to the molecular orientation axis and a difference of 0.20 or smaller between the maximum and minimum values and is further characterized in that it has a difference of 40°or smaller between the maximum and minimum values of the molecular orientation angle of the film and has a molecular orientation angle controlled within 0±20°with respect to MD (0°).
