<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain miniaturization of the whole fuel cell while a cell voltage terminal is installed, and furthermore to secure a desired power generation performance. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell stack 10 is provided with a unit cell 12. On one side of the unit cell 12, oxidizer gas entrance communicating hole 28a and a fuel gas exit communicating hole 30b which are different in opening areas are formed, and a recess 46 is formed on the one side in the vicinity of the fuel gas exit communicating hole 30b of which the opening area is relatively small.
