PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique by which a value of an error recovery level determined by negotiation processing between an initiator and a target is set at a proper value which a manager intends. SOLUTION: A storage system includes a storage part including a target part connected to an initiator device and a management part for managing the storage part. The target part executes negotiation processing with the initiator device to determine a value of a first error recovery level. The value of the first error recovery level is determined to be smaller one of a value of a second error recovery level of the initiator device and a value of a third error recovery level of the target part. In accordance with an instruction from the manager, the management part executes setting processing for assigning an initiator device to be connected to the target part, to the target part.
