Disclosed are pyrimidone compounds of formula (I), wherein: X is two hydrogens, a sulphur, an oxygen or an alkyl and a hydrogen, Y is a bond, ethenylene, an ethynylene or a methylene optionally substituted by alkyl, hydroxy or alkoxy, R1 is a 2, 3 or 4-pyridine ring, or a 2, 4 or 5-pyrimidine ring, optionally substituted by cycloalkyl, alkyl, alkoxy, benzyl or halogen, R2 is heterocyclic bicyclic ring, R3 is an hydrogen, alkyl, hydroxy, alkoxy or halogen, R4 is hydrogen, alkyl, perhalogenated alkyl, halogenated alkyl or halogen, R5 is hydrogen, alkyl, perhalogenated alkyl, halogenated alkyl or halogen, and n is 0-3. The compounds are used for the manufacture of medicaments for the treatment of diseases caused by abnormal GSK3-beta activity or GSK3-beta and cdk5/p25 activity.
