<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content distribution system which enables a user to reproduce many kinds of content without the user's downloading every time and also enables the user to freely select content, which the user want to store, from reproduced content. <P>SOLUTION: Musical composition data are periodically distributed from a distribution server 1 to a reproduction device 4. The musical composition data are temporarily stored in the storage medium of the reproduction device 4 and are deleted for each predetermined period of time. A user can freely reproduce the temporarily stored musical composition data until the musical composition data is deleted and designate the storage of musical composition data which he likes. An application for storing the musical composition data, the storage of which are designated, is transmitted to the distribution server 1. The distribution server 1 charges through a card company or the like and then transmits information which approves the storage to the reproduction device 4 when it confirms the settlement.
