PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both the prevention of toner scattering and fast start-up, with low power consumption and a margin with respect to the breakage of a heating element, using a simple configuration. SOLUTION: A heating device comprises at least a plurality of energized heating elements and an electrode for feeding power to the heating elements to heat an object to be heated. The energized heating elements have different resistance-temperature characteristics. The more upstream the position of the heating element in the direction of transfer of the object to be heated will be, the smaller the resistance change ratio to the temperature is. At normal temperatures, the more upstream the position of the heating element in the direction of transfer of the object to be heated is, the larger the resistance value will be. At a temperature around the temperature at which the object is heated, the more upstream the position of the heat generation element in the direction of transfer of the object is, the smaller the resistance value will be.
